Global Game Jam 2014

Hey everyone, this year on the week end of the 25-27th of January the Global Game Jam commenced. It was a blast just like last year. This year I had a bigger team with different people.

They had the diversifiers in which we kept in mind in order to potentially get extra brownie points.  Diversifiers ,if I haven’t mentioned in the last Gam Jam post, are guides to meet in order to make the game more interesting. You could almost think of them as achievement’s from a video game. Sometimes they are hard to meet but if met that will add more impact to the overall game.
The theme this year was “We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are.” This was a more challenging theme then the last.

It was more abstract so we really had to put our heads together.
There were so many ideas that branched from the theme due to a good brainstorming session. From riding along tracks in a interdimensional world, to avoiding obstacles which shape how the life of the character would turn out.
Ultimately with much trial and error we came up with what would be the final prototype. Our wow factor in the game was a game mechanic on which the player has to change views from side scrolling view to third person view  and vice versa, in order to progress or solve puzzles.

You can see it here by clicking this link ======> http://globalgamejam.org/2014/games/down-rabbit-hole

Ultimately there are many more things we wanted to do but ran out of time.

Overall this was a fun project with a great team and I hope to continue the momentum into the GGJ 2015.

Thanks for reading and have a great day.
